The Terra Cotta Depot ( built in 1900) was once considered to be the largest shipping station on the UP railroad between Kansas City and Denver, Co. By 1867 and 1868 most of the Texas cattle trade moved from Abilene to Brookville and Ellsworth. The Terra Cotta settlement had a store and post office together in one building, the Depot and a school house.
Kansas is full of history. Fort Harker, located in Kanopolis, Kansas, was an active military installation of the United States Army from November 17, 1866 to October 5, 1872.
